Best Rural Retail Business 2019
Durham Hens was a national winner at the prestigious Rural Business Awards in 2019. The northern event was held at Bolton and the final in Worcestershire. There were some amazing entries and we were thrilled to be chosen as the Best Rural Retail Business in the UK.

Microbusiness of the Year 2017
The most prestigious of our awards. Alec and I attended the national final at the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, and we were astonished when we won one of the top awards! For our company to be recognised by the Federation of Small Businesses in this way was absolutely incredible.
Small Business Saturday:
Small Biz 100 2017
In 2017, Durham Hens was one of a hundred companies in the UK to be selected for the Small Biz 100 list by Small Business Saturday. Their support for small businesses is brilliant. The highlight for me was attending a reception at the Prime Minister's residence - 10 Downing Street.
Living North Awards:
Small Business of the Year 2015
Winning this award was a great end to what had been a difficult year on a personal level. The Living North awards in Newcastle was one of the best events I've ever attended. Winning was the icing on the cake!
WIN Awards:
Best Home Based Business 2015
Also in 2015, Durham Hens won Best Home Based Business at the WIN Awards, and was runner up for Best Small Business in the same year!
Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday

On 7th September, 2014, after a hard weekend exhibiting at Wolsingham Show, we were delighted that Durham Hens was chosen by Theo Paphitis from hundreds of entries. The annual #SBS events hosted by Theo are fantastic and have been a great source of inspiration to us.

Best UK Poultry Retailer 2013
In 2013, Durham Hens was nominated for the Best UK Poultry Retailer award. Readers of gardening magazine then voted for their favourite companies and Durham Hens won! This was our company's first award and it meant a lot to us as it was customers who had nominated and voted for us.
