A multiple award-winning  family business established in 2007

IMPORTANT NOTICE

A case of Avian Influenza had been confirmed at Frosterley, 10 km from Durham Hens. As our property straddles the edge of the 10 km APHA surveillance zone, we are unable to sell hens, chicks, or fertile eggs until the restrictions are lifted. Not trading for up to 10 weeks during peak season will significantly reduce our business income and decimate our cash flow. The hens need to be fed and tended until they can be sold, hopefully, in August. As the hens can't be moved from our premises for so long, the economic decision would be to cull them and reduce our losses, but we are an ethical company and will not do that. Please support Durham Hens and help us get through this difficult time.

Product Details

England 1881. Sent away during her brother’s trial, Phyllis Forster returns home as mistress of Burnside Hall only to find that the Weardale people have turned against the Forster family, and she desperately wants to win back their respect. At 28 years old, she gives up hope of marriage and throws herself into the management of the family estate, until two very different men come into her life. Ben, troubled by the past and full of anger and distrust, is a shepherd who shuns the company of others until the new boss arrives at Burnside Hall. Timothy, the new vicar, is preoccupied with the Dale's ancient past, but he takes a keen interest in Phyllis. Can trust and harmony be restored in this rural community? Will Phyllis settle for a loveless marriage? Or will she defy convention and follow her heart?

Follows on from Margaret Manchester's number one international bestseller 'The Lead Miner's Daughter'.

This book has been a #1 Bestseller in Victorian Historical Romance in the UK.
