IMPORTANT NOTICE

A case of Avian Influenza had been confirmed at Frosterley, 10 km from Durham Hens. As our property straddles the edge of the 10 km APHA surveillance zone, we are unable to sell hens, chicks, or fertile eggs until the restrictions are lifted.

Not trading for up to 10 weeks in peak season will reduce our business income significantly and decimate our cash flow. The hens need to be fed and tended until they can be sold, hopefully, in August. As the hens can't be moved from our premises for so long, the economic decision would be to cull them and reduce our losses, but we are an ethical company and will not do that.

Our point of lay hens are fully vaccinated. They are sold between the ages of 16 weeks and 20 weeks (point of lay), and start to lay at approximately 22 weeks.

Our hens are thoroughly health checked before being sold. If you have concerns about a hen you have purchased, please contact us. We offer a 48 hour return period wherein we will take back the hen and swap it for a suitable alternative if available or issue a refund for the price paid.
