Red Mite Alert

Red Mite Alert is a red mite detector. It is a simple reusable device for detecting the presence of red mite in your chicken coop.

Simply attach the device to a perch in your hen house. Check it regularly to detect the presence of these blood sucking parasites early. For broody hens and nest boxes place the device in the nest box. Red Mite Alert allows continual monitoring for the presence of red mite so any infestations can be treated early.

How Red Mites Affect Hens

Symptoms: Anaemia, pale comb, scratching, reluctance to go into the coop and/or lay in nest boxes, death if the infestation is severe.

Treatment: Add Poultry Tonic to water to treat anaemia. To kill mites thoroughly clean the coop with Poultry Shield apply Diatom powder regularly to the hens.
