before purchasing. If you need a heat lamp/brooder, chick-safe drinker, feeder and chick food, they can be ordered from our online shop to collect at the same time as your chicks.
Sapphire Sunset chicks are sex-linked so we know when they hatch which are male and which are female.
Characteristics: Attractive hen that enjoys free range or a large run, popular for their coloured eggs.
Hen colour: Colour can vary. Most are brownish grey with paler necks and salmon chests.
Hen size: Medium
Egg colour: 90% lay blue eggs, others can be white, cream, green or brown.
Approximate number of eggs per year: 260
Chicks are sold from one day old to two weeks of age. They are health-checked before being sold. If you have concerns about a chick you have purchased, please contact us immediately. We offer a 48 hour return period wherein we will take back the chick and swap it for a suitable alternative (if available) or issue a refund for the price paid.
